NIACC trio record personal bests in 5,000
DES MOINES - Three NIACC distance runners recorded personal bests in the 5,000 Friday at Drake's Blue Oval Invitational.
NIACC's Grant Dieken placed 11th in a time of 16 minutes, 7.81 seconds. The Trojans' Max Romain was 12th in 16:11.30 and Evan Wilson was 14th (16:20.76).
Truman State's Mike Grasing won the 5K in 15:21.71.
Dieken's previous personal best in the 5K was 16:53.27. Romain's previous best in the 5K was 16:50.32 and Wilson's previous best was 17:50.37.
Also for the Trojans on Friday at Drake, Alec Hayes placed third in the high jump with a leap of 1.83 meters. Eric Swart was fourth in the high jump, also clearing 1.83 meters.
NIACc's Jesse Cherry was ninth in the shot put (12.41 meters).
In the 1,500, Gavin Connell was 16th in 4:25.20 and Zane Miller was 20th (4:44.12).
