NIACC's Wako places 3rd in 800
STORM LAKE - NIACC sophomore Abdiaziz Wako placed third in the 800-meter run Saturday at the NJCAA Region XI indoor track and field championships.
Wako earned his third-place finish with a time of 1 minute, 59.76 seconds, which qualified him for the NJCAA Division I indoor national championships.
Also for the Trojans on Saturday, Alec Hayes was fifth in the high jump (1.88 meters), Jacob Henjum was sixth (1.83 meters) and Eric Swart was seventh (1.78 meters). Kyle Younker was seventh in the 200 (22.82), Marshawn Bunch was 10th in the weight throw (11.55 meters), Evan Wilson was 11th in the mile (4:54.06) and Grant Dieken was 12th in the 3,000 (9:49.46).
