NIACC's Kraft places 10th in 10K, meet postponed
HUTCHINSON, Kan. - NIACC freshman John Kraft placed 10th in the 10,000-meter run Friday morning at the NJCAA national championships.
Kraft covered the 10,000 meters in 34 minutes, 50.41 seconds.
The 10K race was originally scheduled for Thursday evening but was postponed until Friday morning because of inclement weather.
NIACC's Wal Khat will run in the 800-meter prelims Saturday. Khat was originally scheduled to run the prelims on Friday night, but inclement weather postponed the meet until Saturday.
All of the heats on Saturday will be finals based on times. The heats will be reseeded based on qualifying times from the season.
Khat is seeking to win back-to-back national titles in the 800 in the same season. Khat won the 2017 national indoor title in a time of 1 minute, 51.78 seconds in March.
Khat would be the first NIACC athlete to win an indoor/outdoor national title in the same event in the same season.
