NIACC men's track and field team remains No. 22
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's track and field team remained No. 22 in the third set of NJCAA Division I rankings released by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Iowa Central is ranked No. 1 and Iowa Western is eighth.
The NIACC men were ranked 19th in the first set of rankings.
For the NIACC men, sophomore Wal Khat is ranked second in the 800 (1:54.46), 12th in the mile (4:23.91) and 14th in the 600 (1:21.32).
Also for the Trojans, freshman Blake Keller ranks 11th in the 5,000 (15:33.10) and 22nd in the 3,000 (9:13.80). The Trojans rank sixth in the distance medley relay (10:34.39).
The NIACC women are 25th in this week's rankings. The Lady Trojans were 21st in last week's rankings.
Iowa Central is ranked third and Iowa Western is ranked fourth.
For the NIACC women, freshman Cailey Weaver is ranked seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:19.54. Weaver is also 21st in the 600 (1:40.53).
Freshman Patricia Sahr is 20th in the high jump (5 feet, 2 1/2 inches) and the Lady Trojans' distance medley relay team has the 12th fastest time so far this season (13:23.30).
The NIACC men's and women's track teams return to action Friday and Saturday at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D.
