NIACC men's soccer team opens tourney at Iowa Central
FORT DODGE - The NIACC men's soccer team plays at Iowa Central at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI tournament.
Match time is set for 2 p.m. at Harlan Rogers Park.
NIACC (8-7 overall, 5-4 in the ICCAC) earned the fifth-seed in the regional tournament. Iowa Central (12-3, 6-3) enters the regional tournament as the fourth-seed.
The winner of Saturday's match plays at top-seed Indian Hills (15-2, 8-1) in the regional semifinals at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Indian Hills earned a first-round bye in the six-team tournament.
Iowa Central topped NIACC 2-1 in their regular season match on Sept. 30 in Mason City.
SATURDAY'S FIRST-ROUND MATCHES
2 p.m. - (5) NIACC (8-7, 5-4) at (4) Iowa Central (12-3, 6-3)
2 p.m. - (6) Northeast CC (7-11, 4-5) at (3) Marshalltown (12-2, 7-2)
Note - (1) Indian Hills (15-2, 8-1) and (2) Iowa Western (10-2-1, 8-1) received first-round byes.
TUESDAY, OCT. 31 SEMIFINALS
2 p.m. - Iowa Central/NIACC winner at Indian Hills
2 p.m. - Marshalltown/Northeast winner at Iowa Western
Notes - The championship match is set for Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. at the Cownie Park in Des Moines. The winner of the Region XI championship advances to the NJCAA Division I national tournament in Prescott, Ariz. Nov. 13-18.
