NIACC's Palmquist shoots career best 76

BURLINGTON - Sophomore Anders Palmquist shot a career-best round of 76 and placed fourth Tuesday at the Southeastern CC Fall Invitational at the Burlington Country Club.

Palmquist's previous career best round was a 78 at the Battle of Waterloo on April 14, 2023.

"Anders Palmquist was outstanding (Tuesday)," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "I'm really happy for him as he's been practicing really well and (Tuesday) had things clicking."

Also for the Trojans Tuesday, Jackson Koebernick shot 80, Mitchell Staudt shot 82, Tim Castle shot 83 and Elic Fjetland shot 84. The Trojans had a team total of 321 and placed fourth in the team standings.

"It was a beautiful day for golf and the golf course was in perfect shape," Frenz said. "I saw a lot of good things out here (Tuesday).

"We know we still have shots to cut, but we're definitely trending in the right direction."

NIACC returns to action Tuesday at home with the NIACC Fall Invitational at Highland Park Golf Course.

"We look forward to hosting our tournament on Tuesday," Frenz said.
