NIACC men in 3rd at Iowa Central Invite
FORT DODGE - The NIACC men's golf team is in third place after the first day Sunday at the Iowa Central Invitational at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

Iowa Lakes is in second with a 300 and DMACC and Southwestern are tied for fourth with a pair of 304s.
NIACC was led by sophomore Ben Boerjan with a 34-35 - 69, which tied his career best round. Boerjan also shot a 69 at the Grand View September Shootout on Sept. 17, 2018.
"Ben Boerjan knocked it in for eagle on 16 (Sunday) and did not look back," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "He's been fighting his swing a little since the last tournament, but found a way to get it done (Sunday)."
Also for the Trojans, Jackson Hamlin shot a 37-39 - 76, Zach Martin shot a 38-39 - 77, Austin Eckenrod shot a 40-40 - 80 and John Patterson shot a 44-44 - 88.
"Jackson Hamlin put together a really nice round," Frenz said, "and I'm happy for him to bounce back like that.
"Zach continues to play steady golf and Austin is close to putting it all together. Teamwis, we put together our best round of the spring season so we're trending in the right direction. Now, we just need to put two good days together."
NIACC's previous best team score this spring was a 312 at the Kirkwood Eagle Spring Classic on March 24.
The final round of the Iowa Central Invitational is set for Monday.
