MARION — NIACC scored an eighth-place finish in Kirkwood's Eagle Spring Classic, a two-day tournament which wrapped up Monday. NIACC finished with a two-day total of 645 while Indian Hills won the tournament with a 571.
"I have a number of freshmen and with that comes inconsistency a lot of times," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said. "We just need to get better at making adjustments during the tournament, not getting down on themselves and battling for all 18 holes. They have to realize a stroke here or there can make the difference in team scoring."
Zach Nicholson led the Trojans with a 157 (77-80), Joe Nordquist shot 161 (83-78), Devin Koob shot 162 (81-81) and Anthony Emanuel rounded out the scoring with a 166 (90-76).
Zach Bond led the NIACC 'B' team, which placed 11th, with a 166 (85-81). Also for the NIACC 'B' team, Mitchell Scholl shot a 83-84 - 167; Josh Schaefer shot a 86-81 - 167; Kenton Waters shot a 91-88 - 179 and Jordan Voves shot a 84-95 - 179.
The NIACC men return to action Friday and Saturday at the Wartburg College Invitational at Prairie Links Golf Club in Waverly.
