Mark Mohl, an Osage resident, begins his second season as the associate head coach for the NIACC men's basketball program in the 2023-24 season.
Mohl will also begin his second season as assistant coach for the NIACC women's basketball team in the 2023-24 season.
Mohl was the head coach for the NIACC men's basketball team for 14 seasons where he recorded a record of 237-185, which ranks second on the NIACC men's basketball career wins list.
Mohl guided the Trojans to the NJCAA Region XI title game in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. The Trojans fell to Kirkwood in the 2018-19 regional title game and the Trojans lost to DMACC in the 2019-20 regional title game.
Mohl was selected as the NJCAA Region XI men's basketball coach of the year for the 2018-19 season.
Mohl became the second men's basketball coach in school history to accumulate 200 wins when the Trojans claimed an 83-80 victory over Ellsworth on Jan. 19 in Iowa Falls.
Mohl was also the head coach at Osage for eight years as well as an assistant for the Green Devils' State Championship team in 1995.
Mohl's teams will always press and run and play a very uptempo style. The Trojans have been amongst the highest scoring teams in the league in his tenure.
Mohl went to Lost Nation High School. He played one year at Kirkwood Community College, where he was an All-Region player, and then 3 years at then Division II Morningside College in Sioux City, where he is still in the top-10 in career scoring. Mohl was inducted into the 2012 Iowa High School Athletics Basketball Hall of Fame as a player.
Mohl and his wife Shelly live in Osage. Coach Mohl works as an Enrollment Specialist in Admissions.
