Tucker powers NIACC past Northeast CC, 93-80

NORFOLK, Neb. - Freshman Myles Tucker drained eight 3-point goals, tying a single-game school record, and scored a career-high 28 points to lift the NIACC men's basketball team to a 93-80 victory over Northeast CC in an ICCAC contest Saturday.

Tucker was 6 of 6 from 3-point range in the first half and scored 20 of his 28 points in the first 20 minutes. Tucker was 8 of 10 from beyond the arc as the Trojans opened the league season with a 13-point victory.

Tucker, whose previous career high was 17 points against the William Penn Junior Varsity on Nov. 13, tied the school's single-game 3-point record held by Mike Eckenrod and James Harris. Eckenrod made eight 3-pointers against Waldorf in the 1987-88 season and Harris drained eight 3-pointers against Iowa Central on Jan. 22, 2020.

NIACC (7-2 overall) led 53-41 at the half and outscored the Hawks 40-39 in the second half for its sixth straight win in the series against Northeast CC.

Also for NIACC Saturday, Noah Rigatuso recorded a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Jacques Kelly scored 15 points and Cortaviaus Seales scored 13 points.

NIACC's Jeffrey Skogen scored six points with six steals, four assists and three rebounds. The six steals is the most in a game for a NIACC player since Wendell Matthews collected five steals against the Simpson College JV on Jan. 23, 2020.

Northeast CC was led by Jai'lyn Spears with 25 points.

NIACC returns to action Monday at DCTC in a non-conference contest. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
