MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team cruised to a 90-58 victory over the Mount Mercy University Junior Varsity Monday night in the NIACC gym.
It was the third game in three days for NIACC (6-2 overall). The Trojans split a pair of contests at the Pinnacle Bank Thanksgiving Classic in Columbus, Neb. on Saturday and Sunday.
At the Pinnacle Bank Thanksgiving Classic, NIACC dropped a 91-84 decision to Central CC-Columbus on Saturday and the Trojans nipped North Central Missouri College 71-70 on Sunday.
In Monday's game, Tysen Brennan led NIACC with 14 points. Bradley Andrews scored 13 points and AJ Wells was also in double figures with 11 points.
Also for the Trojans, Noah Rigatuso scored nine points. Jeffrey Skogen and Myles Tucker both scored eight points.
Andrews led the Trojans, who led 52-20 at the half, with six rebounds. Cortaviaus Seales and Myles Tucker both dished out five assists.
A total of 12 NIACC players scored in Monday's non-conference contest.
NIACC shot a season-best 63.8 percent from the field (37 of 58) in Monday's victory. The previous best by the Trojans this season was 54.5 percent (48 of 88) in a 110-66 win over the William Penn Junior Varsity on Nov. 13.
The 63.8 percent shooting from the field by the NIACC men is the best in a game since the Trojans shot 63.2 percent (60 of 95) on Nov. 15, 2019 in a 144-107 win over the Grinnell JV.
NIACC opens ICCAC play Saturday at Northeast CC. Game time in Norfolk, Neb. is slated for 3 p.m.
