NIACC men win 8th straight, 104-81
CRESTON - The NIACC men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to eight games with a 104-81 win over No. 2 Southwestern in its ICCAC opener Saturday afternoon.
NIACC (9-2 overall, 1-0 in ICCAC) has not lost since dropping a 100-76 decision at Iowa Western on Nov. 5 in Council Bluffs. The eight-game winning streak is the longest since the Trojans won eight straight in the 2012-13 season.
Saturday's victory was the fifth straight time that the Trojans have reached the century mark. The last time a NIACC men's basketball team scored at least 100 points in five straight contests was the 1971-72 season.
In Saturday's contest, Quentin Hardrict led the Trojans with a career-high 29 points. Deundra Roberson scored 19 points and James Harris scored 16 points.
Saturday's win snapped a four-game losing skid to Southwestern. Before Saturday, the last win by the Trojans over SWCC was a 66-62 win in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI tournament in the 2015-16 season.
NIACC is idle now for the holiday break. The Trojans return to action at home on Jan. 9 against Iowa Central.
