NIACC stops Northeast CC, 105-71
FORT DODGE - For the third time this week, the NIACC men's basketball team reached the 100-point plateau.
NIACC cruised to a 105-71 victory over Northeast CC on Friday on the opening day of the Great Western Shootout on the Iowa Central campus.
On Monday, the Trojans topped the Wartburg College Junior Varsity 109-77 and on Wednesday they stopped No. 16 DCTC 101-65.
The last time the NIACC men's basketball team scored at least 100 points in three straight games was the 1999-2000 season under coach Steve Krafcisin.
In the 1999-2000 season, the Trojans topped Wartburg JV (105-65), Bethany Lutheran (113-108 in OT) and Western Wisconsin Tech (110-62) in three straight contests.
The last time a NIACC men's team scored at least 100 points in four straight games was in the 1971-72 season when the Trojans' reached the century mark five straight times. The 1971-72 Trojans also had a streak of four straight 100-point games and two streaks of three straight 100-point games.
In Friday's contest, Wendell Matthews led the Trojans with 30 points. Quentin Hardrict scored 17 points, James Harris scored 16 points and Kyle Lang scored 12 points.
NIACC (7-2 overall) returns to action Saturday against NDSCS at the Great Western Shootout. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
