NIACC nips DCTC, 64-63
MASON CITY - Brad Rathjen scored a layup with about 10 seconds remaining to lift the NIACC men's basketball team to a 64-63 victory over Dakota County Technical College Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
DCTC had a chance to score in the final seconds but could not convert.
NIACC (11-5) was led by sophomore Tim Trousell with 16 points and 10 rebounds - his fourth double double of the season.
The Trojans also received 13 points from Matt Baker and Nick Wurm.
It is the second straight narrow win in the series against DCTC. The Trojans, who trail the all-time series with DCTC 4-2, topped DCTC 79-77 in the 2015-16 season.
NIACC opens ICCAC play at home Saturday against DMACC. The women's game starts at 1 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 3 p.m.
