NORFOLK, Neb. - The NIACC baseball team split an ICCAC doubleheader Saturday with No. 19 Northeast CC.
NIACC received a complete-game shutout from Zach Dohrmann as the Trojans won the opener 3-0. Northeast CC (33-19 overall, 20-9) salvaged a split in the league twinbill with a 3-1 win in game two.
In the first game, Dohrmann (3-5) tossed his second complete-game shutout of the season. Dohrmann, a sophomore right-hander from Farmington, Minn., held the Hawks to four hits over seven innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
Dohrmann also threw a complete-game shutout against Allen County CC in a 10-0 five-inning win on Feb. 10.
Dohrmann has 51 strikeouts this season, which ranks 13th in the ICCAC. Dohrmann has 94 career strikeouts, which ranks 17th on the school's career strikeout list.
NIACC scored one run in the sixth inning and added two insurance runs in the seventh inning.
The Trojans' Carter Dalton was 2 for 3 and scored a run. The Trojans received RBIs from Darcy Barry and Charlie Harms.
In the second game, Northeast CC scored a single run in the third inning and pushed across two runs in the fifth frame.
NIACC's lone run of the contest was in the first inning.
NIACC starter John Skoro allowed three runs on five hits with one strikeout and no walks in 4 1/3 innings of work.
NIACC (20-28, 12-16) returns to action Wednesday at home with an ICCAC twinbill against Kirkwood. The first game at Roosevelt Field is slated for 1 p.m.
