NIACC falls to Kirkwood, 14-4
MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 14-4 seven-inning to No. 17 Kirkwood Wednesday afternoon at Roosevelt Field.
Kirkwood (22-12 overall, 9-6 in the ICCAC) hit four home runs, including two each in the fourth and seventh innings. The Eagles scored four runs in the fourth inning and pushed across five runs in the sixth frame.
NIACC (13-19, 9-6) scored a single runs in the third and sixth innings and two runs in the seventh inning.
Sophomore Bennett McCollow hit a solo home run for the Trojans in the sixth inning. It was his ninth home run of the season and 21st of his career, which is tied for sixth with Bryce Ball (2017-18) on the school's career home run list.
Sophomore Kade Peloquin hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning - Peloquin's sixth of the season and seventh of his career.
McCollow was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. He also plated a run with a one-out double in the third inning.
NIACC returns to action Saturday and Sunday in a three-game series against No. 8 Southeastern (26-9, 11-3) in West Burlington.
