NIACC splits with Allen County CC

IOLA, Kan. - The NIACC baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Allen County CC on Sunday.

NIACC won the first game 6-1 with a combined no-hitter from Ben Rosin (1-0), Jacob Crissinger and Cooper Mollet. Allen County CC took the second game 6-5 by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

In the first game, Rosin pitched four innings allowing one run with two strikeouts and four walks. Crissinger pitched two scoreless innings and Mollet pitched a scoreless seventh inning.

It was 1st no-hitter since April 6, 2015 when Trent Roose tossed a no-hitter in a 7-0 win over the Luther College Junior Varsity.

In the opener, NIACC's Alex Berreth hit a solo home run in the second inning and Adam Berghult hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

NIACC leadoff hitter Brayden Hellum was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. NIACC's Eli Anderson was 3 for 3 and scored three runs.

In the second game on Sunday, NIACC's Bennett McCollow hit his second home run of the season. Hellum was 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Lincoln Berry was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Anderson was 2 for 3 with one run scored.

NIACC (2-3 overall) wraps up the three-game series with Allen County CC with a single game on Monday. Game time is slated for noon.
