POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The NIACC baseball team won the rubber match of the three-game series against Three Rivers Community College on Sunday.
NIACC topped Three Rivers CC 7-4 on Sunday in a nine-inning game after the two teams split a doubleheader on Saturday. The Trojans scored five runs in the eighth inning to rally for the 3-run victory.
Freshman Dawson Wedeking had a key pinch-hit RBI single in the five-run eighth inning.
Michael Sturek (2-0) gained the win in relief for the Trojans. Sturek relieved starter Nick Lommen in the sixth inning and struck out four in 2 2/3 innings of work.
NIACC's Will Sturek was 2 for 5 with a run scored and the Trojans also received doubles from Ayrton Laird and Gabe Eckstaine.
NIACC (4-1) returns to action Wednesday at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis against the University of Minnesota post-grad team. The doubleheader in the Minnesota Vikings stadium starts at 10 a.m.
