YANKTON, S.D. - The NIACC baseball team split an ICCAC doubleheader with Northeast CC on Monday.
NIACC won the first game 4-0 receiving a complete-game 1-hit shutout from Michael Oh. Northeast CC took the second game 7-4.
In the first game on Monday, Oh, who took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, struck out 10, walked three and only allowed a leadoff single to Jackson Tingwald in the seventh inning. It was Oh's first-ever complete-game shutout.
It was the first complete-game shutout for the NIACC baseball team since Tom Skoro shutout Iowa Central 4-0 on April 22, 2018.
The Trojans scored single runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings. The Trojans received RBIs from Shane Kelleher, Fox Leum, Anthony Catalano and Ross Cochran.
In the second game, Northeast scored a single run in the third inning, pushed four across in the fourth inning and added two insurance runs in the sixth inning.
NIACC scored three runs in the third inning and scored one run in the fifth inning.
Sophomore Ben Fitzgerald was 2 for 5, including a double and home run, with three RBIs.
The two teams wrap up their season-opening ICCAC series on Tuesday. The first game is slated to start at 1 p.m.
