CEDAR RAPIDS - The NIACC baseball team split a doubleheader with No. 4 Kirkwood on Thursday.
NIACC won the first game 9-2 and the Eagles took the second game 12-2 in five innings.
In the first game, NIACC's Tom Skoro (5-2) tossed a complete-game four-hitter. Skoro, who allowed two earned runs in the fourth inning, struck out 10 and walked three.
The Trojans received home runs from Bryce Ball and Cade Schares.
Schares was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Kamrin Arons was 3 for 4 and also scored two runs.
Also for the Trojans in the opener, Jacob Hansen was 2 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs.
In the second game, the Eagles' Cameron Leff tossed a one-hitter. He struck out seven and walked two in his five innings of work.
Ben Komonosky collected the lone hit for the Trojans. Komonosky and Schares both drove in runs for the Trojans in game two.
Kirkwood scored eight runs in the third inning and plated four insurance runs in the fourth frame.
