BOONE - The NIACC baseball team pushed its ICCAC winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep over DMACC on Thursday.
NIACC won the first game 5-2 and took the second game 13-5 in eight innings.
In the first game, freshman left-hander Tom Skoro gained the win improving his record to 4-2. Skoro, who struck out a career-high 11 and walked three, scattered four hits and allowed two runs in six innings of work. Chase Stewart picked up his third save by pitching a scoreless seventh inning.
NIACC received RBIs from Joey Werner, Kamrin Arons, Fox Leum and Ben Komonsky.
In the second game, the Trojans (14-15 overall, 6-4 in the ICCAC) received home runs from Shane Kelleher, Arons and Bryce Ball. Kelleher, who was 4 for 5 with four RBIs, also had three doubles.
Werner and Ball also had doubles for the Trojans in the second game. Arons was 3 for 5 with four RBIs and Ball drove in three runs.
The 13 runs was more than enough for sophomore left-hander Tyler Lien, who struck out 11 and walked three. Lien three runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.
It was the second time in his career that Lien recorded 11 strikeouts in a game. Lien also struck out 11 against Kirkwood on April 28, 2017 in the second game of a doubleheader.
The final two games of the four-game series are set for Saturday.
