NIACC opens season with 18-6 win
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The NIACC baseball team opened the 2018 season with a 18-6 victory over MCC-Maple Woods on Sunday.
Fox Leum led the Trojans at the plate Sunday by going 2 for 5, including two home runs, with six RBIs. Ben Komonsky was 3 for 3, including a home run, with two RBIs.
Also for the Trojans, Shane Kelleher collected two hits and drove in three runs and Jimmy Brady drove in three runs.
Sophomore left-hander Brandon Williamson gained the win by allowing three hits and no runs in four innings of work. Williamson struck out nine, which matched a career-high, and walked three.
NIACC returns to action Monday in a doubleheader against MCC-Maple Woods.
Notes: Williamson improved his career record to 5-1 with 56 strikeouts and 28 walks ... Komonsky has 4 career home runs ...
