Four NIACC players sign with NCAA Division I schools
MASON CITY - Four NIACC baseball players signed NCAA Division I national letter of intents Wednesday in the NIACC recreation center.
NIACC's Bryce Ball (Mason City) signed with Dallas Baptist University, Tyler Lien (St. Louis, Mo.) signed with University of Louisiana-Monroe, Joey Werner (Hastings, Minn.) signed with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Brandon Williamson (Welcome, Minn.) inked with Michigan State University.
Ball, a first baseman, hit .419 for the Trojans during his freshman campaign and earned first-team all-NJCAA Region XI honors. He had 22 doubles with seven home runs, 52 RBIs and scored 49 runs.
Lien, a left-handed pitcher, was 5-2 with 48 strikeouts and 30 walks in 49 1/3 innings pitched as a freshman.
Werner, an outfielder, hit .324 with five home runs, seven doubles and 27 RBIs.
Williamson, a left-handed pitcher, was 4-1 with one save with a 3.86 earned run average in 2017 in 49 innings pitched.
