WAVERLY - The NIACC baseball team swept the Wartburg College junior varsity in a nonconference twinbill Thursday.
NIACC won the first game 4-0 and took the second game 9-7.
In the first game, NIACC's Brody Gugat improved his record to 3-1 with a complete-game, four-hit shutout. Gugat struck out 10 and walked three.
Matt Schwarz was two for three with one run scored and three RBIs.
In the second game, Schwarz was two for three, including a triple, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Brandon Michie was two for four, including a home run, with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Mitch Neunborn was two for four with a run scored and one RBI.
NIACC returns to action Friday at home against Kirkwood in a ICCAC doubleheader. The first game is set to start at 3 p.m.
