MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team split an ICCAC twinbill with No. 18 Southeastern CC on Sunday at Roosevelt Field.
NIACC won the first game 7-6 by scoring a single run in the seventh inning on a throwing error. Southeastern won the second game 17-11 after jumping out to a 12-0 lead after three innings.
Southeastern (26-9 overall) leads the ICCAC with a record of 9-3.
In the first game, NIACC trailed 4-0 after the first inning, managed to tie the game at 5-5 with a single run in the fifth inning and took the lead (6-5) with a solo home run from Connor Enochs in the sixth inning.
The home run by Enochs was his 100th career hit as he became the 21st player in school history to collect 100 career hits.
Southeastern tied the game with a run in its half of the seventh inning.
NIACC's Bryce Ball hit a three-run home run in the third inning.
In the NIACC seventh, Brandon Michie led off with a walk and moved to second on single by Mitch Neunborn. Michie scored the winning run when Matt Schwarz reached on a throwing error by Southeastern third baseman Marco Melgoza.
In the second game, NIACC, which was held scoreless in the first three innings, scored 11 runs over its final six at-bats.
NIACC, which collected 16 hits, received four hits from Ball, including a home run and a double, and three hits from Cam Shannon. Ball also drew two walks and reached base in all six of his trips to the plate.
NIACC (21-14 overall, 6-6 in the ICCAC) returns to action Monday at home against the Wartburg College junior varsity. The doubleheader starts at 4 p.m. at Roosevelt Field.
